Good stuff

Easy to read. Lots of nicely coloured pictures. It makes for easy understanding of fluid pathways and valve construction. Great index and word definitions. Amazon's price beats the Eaton website price by about $30? Shipping was fast and right to my door. Can't complain.

Good content but horrible editing!

I don't normally write poor reviews, but for this book I must. First, my negative review has NOTHING to do with the author or its content. I thank the author for putting all the work into the book, organizing the recipes, making a 30 day plan, and shopping lists. You've done what I'm to lazy to do! However, get a new editor and publisher STAT. I've seen high school reports formatted better. I can't believe anyone ok'd this for printing!! See photo.

I love food but the same old recipes get old after making the same ones repeatedly.Low carbs has been a bad phrase that makes people groan when they find out it's their new diet.But this book will make you happy to try these recipes.With 50 recipes and meal plans you aren't just given some ingredients.It tells you what combination to put tge meals together to get the most benefit out of this diet.It's concise without being boring.I've already starting loosing weight and in the way that is healthy.This book is saying on my counter for easy access.I will let people copy the tecipes but not borrow the book.I received this book at a discount in exchange for my honest review

Nir focuses on building teams, communicating, and getting buy-in fromthose in your organization that you hope to lead. Since that is verymuch what CAD managers do, I've found this book to be an interestingread.

Nir's style is concise, approachable, and at no time dictatorial. After you read through his approach to get people thinking without feelingthat they've been unduly influenced, you'll realize that his book doesthis exact same thing!

If you're open to reading a book on management theory, I recommend this one highly.

Another hit from Michael Nir

There is something about the many publications that Michael Nir produces that makes him a sure fire winner to read. Among those qualities is his ability to offer brief but succinct information in a warm, caring, entertaining manner, words that can be read quickly the first time around and then always be there for reference point then conditions call for a refresher course.

In INFLUENCE AND LEADERSHIP he addresses how to be an influential leader. Some of the areas he addresses include being likeable, how to use power, being aware of the variety of stakeholders (high power high interest stakeholders - manage closely, high power low interest stakeholders - keep satisfied, low power high interest stake holders - keep informed, low power low interest stakeholders - monitor with minimal effort), styles of leadership and how to make your chosen style work for you, and communication style - perhaps e most helpful section in the book.

Nir weaves his important points into a tapestry of his own experiences, making the ideas credible and accessible, and he keeps that warm feeling of caring about how we are progressing in our search for self-improvement active and productive. Though his books are brief, they are rich in information and will become necessary additions to the desk drawer library of resources when questions arise - as they always will. Highly recommended. Leaders' Essential Communication Skills Guide

Michael Nir has written a very good primer on communication skills for leaders and managers. I enjoyed his analogy to backpacking in Denali National Park, which I have personally visited. He has a dry sense of humor with lines like "...the natural urge to pet [bears] is highly inadvisable. I liked his focus on personal informal power with spot on tips for communication styles to affect greater informal power. He makes a valid point that most organizations go to an extreme level to avoid using the "liking" influencing strategy. The result is a dead organization devoid of acknowledgement and recognition. The end product is a group of cohorts that avoid liking each other and many times don't. Michael's greatest contribution in this book is the inventory of 20 leading characteristics found in global business leaders. I wonder if we should do more screening for these indicators like fairness, vision, humility, trust and the others. All in all, a good, quick read to help leaders and managers with communication skills development.
