Quick, light, relaxing read

I read the Kindle version. I'm a fan of Karl, and have read all his books at some point. If you're read his others, you know that he basically just describes the events that happen in his shows, with a little more perspective, and some anecdotes thrown in. This is no different. I have a broken leg right now, and reading this was a great de-stressor. Highly recommended for a light and relaxing read. I finished it in a couple of reading sessions.

Amazing look into the thoughts and reactions of a simple soul. Science and religion don't touch him, and he is very accepting of many things that others would blush or refuse to accept. Some of his ideas turn the real world upside down.

It was okay

Where do I start with this review? I am a fan of forbidden love books so I didn't hesitate on getting the chance to read this one. Logan and Sophie meet each other for the first time on their parents wedding day. In the beginning Sophie is 16 and Logan is 18, so not like a full on brother sister relationship. Although they don't know they are step-siblings until later in the evening. Sparks fly and there is an immediate attraction between them.

In the beginning they both fight their feelings for each other but Logan wants to give it a shot and see how things go between them. Tragedy strikes and Sophie refuses to give into her feelings thinking that everyone around her would be disgusted.

While the premise for the story was good and it was written well I found myself becoming bored. The push and pull went on forever and the ending felt rushed, if that makes sense. I kept reading to get to the end and when I reached that I point I felt a little let down.

A brilliant start to the brilliant taboo series - five star read as ever from Mandy Lou Dowson

So we meet Sophie, the never been kissed, sixteen year old on her mother's wedding day. Sophie had no siblings till that day. The mother-daughter relationship is clear to see and the bond they have is perfect. She was truly happy for mum as the perfect bride to be on her wedding day, with her daughter as bridesmaid. It was that day that would change the rest of Sophie's life forever. Meeting the handsome stranger, with no formal introduction, it felt exciting and new and as I can only explain it, inexorably mean to be. I could almost feel the static in the air reading about them, forgetting they were in fact teenagers.
The inevitable happens when the two are introduced and it dawns on them that the attraction they felt should just be squashed, they were siblings now...well it's easier in theory. How could they create a sibling bond?

A separation for a year another birthday would bring awful news, and rather than facing their attraction again, the pair cling onto one another through the worst news. We see them fall apart.

We meet the couple a number of years later, when Sophie is settled with her then partner and Logan is, well, Logan :)
But he continues to be the support he claimed he would be, he speaks to her frequently about her issues or bad dreams and frequent late night phone calls continue. He pulls Sophie from the darkest hours she has and reminds her of the good. He is the perfect, sometimes hilarious gentleman.

However when Sophie finds herself single, the first person she runs to is Logan. They reconnect not only emotionally but physically and it leaves Sophie feeling confused once again doubtful of others judgments and her feelings, rather than grasping onto some kind of happiness. She runs and this time Logan's hurt and resentment is clear to see. He reaches out but gets nothing.

When the pair meet back up under a business contract they seem like different people. But the attraction is no less. However Logan's hurt is evident and makes him become a character difficult to like. Would he push Sophie too far? Would she be able to refuse the biggest contract her small business have ever been offered? Would he make her jump through hoops to fulfill the contract?

The book was amazing. So completely different from the 'Moon Bound Series' but brilliant none the less. The characters were brilliant and although it was a hard read at points, it was a constant page turner and so emotional. All I desperately wanted was for them both to find their own happiness.

Even someone close to Sophie can realise her feelings for Logan and I hoped maybe that would be the permission she needed to grant herself some happiness.

A five star read and the same for my steam meter ;)

So, you know when you are really excited about something and go to tell a friend, but your story winds up being something like "This happened, and then this, and then this, and this!"? That is how this story is written.

From the second Sophie meets her step-brother, Logan, she is highly attracted to him, but she doesn't know who he is yet. When she finds out who he is, she immediately feels dirty for having those thoughts about her step-brother. I kind of wanted to slap her for being so dumb... you aren't actually related. This whole "oh I can't! what would society think?" is a big issue in this book for no reason.

The story takes places over a ten year span and ends pretty abruptly.

If this is required, get another text as a supplement

This book has lots of derivations for equations with very little in the way of explanation. It is very difficult to solve problems, as there are only a few examples. Further more, the solution guide is full of typos and only shows the solution to the (a) problems, but those answers are in the back of the book anyway. If you are a prof, you had better be really good at explaining theory and showing some problem solving skills, as this book will NOT help your students.

Not In Depth, Plenty of Issues

This book is like cliff notes for Quantum Mechanics, so don't expect to get by in Physical Chemistry just reading this book alone. The book lacks detail, so you only vaguely understand the general process. Some of the equations are inconsistent with other books, this is due to the fact that even the equations in the book are streamlined; so you might find yourself wrong in various questions because the book expects you to know what constants and variables are where. Usually only one form of the equation is given in this book, however every equation can be manipulated and there are many forms to every equation, so read with caution! This book however is great for pre-reading before lectures, reviewing material already known, and can be used as an excellent supplement to other physical chemistry books. However, by itself it cannot stand on its own, if this is the only book you plan to purchase, I suggest you look for a more comprehensive and detailed book.

A play, in two acts and ten scenes, happens within the space of a few days, on the stage of an abandoned theatre on the lower East Side of New York, in the midst of a slum-clearing project. "The Cave Dwellers" opened at the Bijou Theater in New York on Saturday evening, October 19, 1957.

A fun philosophical play. Unique players.

William Soroyan has an extensive bibliography, authored numerous short stories, plays, novels, and much more. He won a Pulitzer Prize and refused it for "The Time of Your Life" in 1939 because he didn't think businessmen were qualified to judge art. He was known as a man with great philosophical wisdom; he died in 1981.

Cave Dwellers is metaphorical, fantasy, allegorical and philosophical. It was about love, hate, fear, friendships, living, laughing, crying, dreams, and failure, etc. But mostly, it is a feel-good story about strength, courage and love.

The setting is in a cold abandoned NY theatre set to be demolished and currently is inhabited for the past 9 months by several homeless people who classified themselves as "theatre people", therefore a restriction exists as to letting just anyone join their group. Afterall, they are not animals living in a cave. They have love to share.

The main characters are not named, simply known as The King, The Queen, The Duke and The Girl, The Father, Mother and The Bear (Gorky).

The scene opens with The Girl (not previously in the theatre) who has run into the abandoned theatre and encounters the Duke, an aging prizefighter who lost his crown 15 years ago. He accepts her. She joins the Queen, an older sick woman who has had her share of theatre performances, and The King, a clown in his heyday until he was put out. They are joined by a homeless Father, Mother, Baby and a performing bear named Gorky.

The prizefighter shadowboxes and is haunted by losing his title when he was afraid to kill his opponent with one blow & instead his opponent "killed" him with one blow.

On the cold night, The King, an ex-clown, loses his shoe in a bet with the Wreckers outside by trying to make them laugh. They don't need to laugh, so the King bets his shoe and tries to make them cry and fails.

The Duke steals milk for the baby. The Girl loves the Duke, etc. etc.
They beg, steal, survive and love. There isn't much in the line of plot and action, but it is what is said that sums up the play. It is fun and certainly unique!! ....Rizzo
