Excellent Book

I expected to learn from this book, but didn't expect to be inspired and I was. It is very readable, concise, and well thought out. It grabbed my attention from the first page and kept me interested through the entire book.
Even though the format was question and answer, it was surprising how the personality of each responder came through. (An example: While I appreciate and agree with Dr. Bryan Dik about his explanation of "calling" I found his speaking style to be a bit academic in tone).
It was excellent that the book speaks to all ages from high school age to mid-life folks. There were helpful suggestions for people from every age bracket. I appreciated the fact that much was said to parents about how to support their kids. Wish I had known all that earlier.
The LGBT section was excellent and should be of great help to members of that group seeking a career. Lynne Milburn fully realizes the difficulties LGBT people face and gave helpful information to them.
I wish I had had this book both when I was working and even earlier. I was "lucky" in my profession and loved what I did but always felt that I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. There is not much in the book to address gender issues. I think I am especially aware of these issues because of my age and the experiences I had. I was the "first woman" to do many things in my field. I know that there is much less discrimination in the work place now than when I began my professional life, but I also believe it still is an underlying issue in many situations.
Overall, great book and one I am buying for a family member who could benefit from it.

Definitely Recommend!

If you only buy one book about careers, you should buy this one. Dr. Civitelli has done a phenomenal job taking the best, most pertinent career information you need and combining it into one amazing resource. This book is incredibly well-written, organized, and edited. I was surprised and pleased to see a Kindle book so well formatted. I have bought other Kindle books in the past that I couldn't even read because the author did not take the amount of time needed to get it right, like Dr. Civitelli obviously did. I like that she chose to interview multiple industry professionals for many viewpoints, rather than filling the book with her own, like many other career professionals. I am impressed with the thoroughness of her research and the types of questions she asked. I will be recommending this book to clients, family members, and friends.

Excellent Career Resource

Aside from sleep, most people spend the majority of their lives at work. Considering the amount of time that we spend at work, it is worth the time, energy, and dedication to research and find a satisfying and fulfilling career. Dr. Civitelli's "Help Me Find a Career: Strategies to Choose Work You Will Love" is a helpful and comforting resource for someone looking to find and/or change his/her career. The interviews provide insightful advice, direction, and optimism. I particularly appreciate the references about how to find a satisfying career in a gloomy economy. Furthermore, the interviews are relatable and easy to apply in real life. I highly recommend anyone exploring his/her career options to read this book.
