WOW!!!! This book has left me speechless. This is the third book by Tamara Mataya that I have read and it by far my favorite. Her writing has improved so much since that first book of hers that I read.
This book was so different from her other books. She decided to write a story about a subject that many find to be taboo…..BDSM. I thought she did a fabulous job with this storyline. She was able to make this story and characters feel real and relatable. You can really tell that she did her research on this subject to make this book seem and feel authentic to the reader. I loved that she told this story in dual POV, because I thought it was totally beneficial to read what both Sloane and Darko were feeling and thinking. This book was very tastefully written. I have read many BDSM type stories and some have made me squeamish while reading it and some I thought were just too tame to be consider in this genre of book, but I thought Tamara did an excellent job finding that middle ground. I thought she captured the BDSM world accurately but without being overly graphic just to push the readers limits.
This book was so much more than just a BDSM and love story. This was truly a journey of self discovery and acceptance for Sloane, who just so happens to fall in love with a Dom along the way ;) Sloane is a woman who has to have control in every aspect of her life….love, work and family. So when her twin sister comes to her and tells her that she has this different lifestyle, Sloane reacts poorly and is set out to show her sister what a bad world BDSM really is. But what she finds along the way is that she is more a part of that world than she would've ever guessed. I don't want to tell you everything that happens, but trust me you will want to follow Sloane on this wonderful journey. I think a lot of readers will be able to connect to this story on a personal level.
As for Darko (I know weird name, but she explains it in the book)…..he is amazing!!! I fell for him hook, line and sinker. He is a wonderful Dom but also a sweet man underneath. I think that is why I loved this book so much….the author didn't make Darko out to be that overbearing Dom, who you just hate because he is just mean. I thought she hit the nail on the head with Darko. He was the best combination between Dom and gentleman.
I liked all the secondary characters, but none that completely stuck out to me. I know I would be happy to read books about some of the other Doms/subs from the club. We do get a sneak peek of the next standalone in this series….Take Me. I am truly looking forward to that book….I am excited to see where she takes the next story.
I would 100% recommend this book to everyone. If you are a fan of BDSM, I think this is a great book to read, but even if you aren't, I still think this is read you should try. None of the BDSM scenes are overly graphic, so you won't be left squirming while reading this story. This was a great story about learning to love yourself and be true to who we really are.

Make Me (The Submission Games Book 1) is the first story in the brand new series by Tamara Mataya. It needs to stated first and foremost that while this book tackles a genre that is hugely popular, during a time where anyone and everyone is discussing the hugely popular 50 Shades of Grey, this story is a complete departure from the above named series.
Make Me blazes its' own path. Refreshing during a time when everyone is attempting to breathe new life into a hugely popular and now mainstream, before considered taboo subject, the lifestyle of BDSM.
Mataya's style of writing is unique, a fact that becomes abundantly clear to the reader within the very earliest pages of this novel. She plots meticulously, the scenes are crafted with care, and gives us such spectacular characters that you can't help but be drawn into their story. Gone is the wimpy, whiney female character that are quite happy to allow a handsome, strong male character, to swoop in, save the day and sweep her of feet. Sloan is not only fierce in her loyalty to those she loves, but also uncompromising in her values and beliefs and more than a lot stubborn . She's dedicated to her profession and the pursuit of truth. Being a journalist who has seen her fair share of brutality and fallen victim to it in the past, she doesn't shy away from darker more challenging stories that most would turn tail and run away from.
When she discovers that her previously troubled twin sister, Tessa has been experimenting with kink, and fallen off the map, not responding to calls, emails or texts, she becomes hell bent on uncovering the truth behind her sister's disappearance. She devises a plan, she'll infiltrate the notoriously, secret underground BDSM club, The Underground, expose leaders and members for what she believes them to truly be, abusers, praying on innocents and the weak, naive people unwilling to see them for what the truly are.
However what Sloan could never have anticipated or planned for is Darko Aralica, a dominant who's skill is closely coveted by those submissive lucky enough to spend any length of time under his hand, rope or crop. From the moment Sloan meets Darko, her every preconception of The Underground is tested.

What makes Make Me completely different from all of the others, is that this book has been thoroughly researched. The author has taken the time to explore the truth behind the BDSM lifestyle, and write about it in a way, that reveals the truth that lay beyond all of the misconceptions. Impeccably written, from an alternating perspective, Make Me, sucks you in. The scenes will mesmerize and fascinate you. They will invoke curiosity and make you re-think all that you thought you knew. It's a love story that is incredibly addictive, decadent and sexy, heartfelt and emotional, layered for optimal feels. Tamara Mataya sets the reader up, to demand more, more of this series, more of the characters that we are now fascinated by and more delicious stories from The Underground.
I was captivated by Make Me and cannot wait for the companion novels that will hopefully follow quickly, because I need more. Tamara Mataya always leaves me wanting more...

MAKE ME is above all else, an EPIC love story. With a TON of fantastic kink, of course.

There's truly something to be said about an author who can make you change your view on something. For me, it was Tamara Mataya and BDSM. When I first read MAKE ME, my experience and "knowledge" (this word is used loosely) was based on the 50 Shades trilogy. It's safe to say I was ill-informed. (Note: Though I did love 50 shades, I am well aware that reality and fiction are two very different things, and the reality of the BDSM community was not properly represented in these particular works of fiction.)
MAKE ME did just that . . . it made me open my eyes to a world I knew nothing about. As Sloane learned her way through the lifestyle, so did I. As her mind opened, and her preconceived notions began to fall away, so did mine. I fell in love with Darko as Sloane did, fell in love with the beauty that can be found in a true, caring Dom/sub relationship, fell in love with this story that Mataya artfully crafted.
I've read everything Tamara Matyaya has written, and I can say that without a doubt, this was the series she was born to write. The way she painted the scenes, formed the characters, bled onto the pages of MAKE ME . . . well, this is a book I will read over and over again. And dammit, Tessa's story in TAKE ME can't get here fast enough.
I highly recommend MAKE ME to anyone who loves a sexy, sultry love story. Because that's what this is. A love story. And an epic one at that.
