The Spiritual Context of Energy

Jose Arguelles presents a harmonic balance of the nature of Energy and Mayan spirituality in "The Mayan Factor." Although some of the concepts can seem intimidating at first, Arguelles' masterful use of language allows the reader peel away the layers of traditional Western thought on the subject of Energy to reveal a core of Mayan philosophy steeped in spirtuality. This book is what I call a "long lingering lesson," meaning the longer you allow Arguelles' message to linger in your thoughts, the more poignant the lesson becomes! For me reading the Mayan Facor was like sipping a glass of 1996 Bordeaux; when I was done I was refreshed, yet thirsted for more, and the world didn't quite look the same anymore! I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in Mayan culture, energy, or anyone looking for a unique perspective on humanity's place in the grand scheme of things!

True Mayan fascination

This is the first book I have read in a series of Mayan religion and culture. This book is absolutely necessary for anyone studying the Mayan culture. It provides an unorthodoxed look at there culture and religion. It will furthermore open ones mind to the abilities of our predecessors, and show that there is much more to be learned of our history as humanoids. This book has fantastic technical merit. I am not a archaeologist or a anthropoligist or even a paleontologists. Therefore i can not credentially state that this book is true. But I have read many Mayan books now and after much experience it has opened into a labyrinth of mystery. One that may not be solved but so fabulous to learn. For anyone looking at this book you need this, for education or for spiritual growth of your own discipline. It will propel you to better and broader horizons. I would like to thank the author for revealing another side of what i see as a biased history of the Mayans. Thank you.

Very refreshing!

I thouroughly enjoyed this series. This book in particular kept me completely entertained and I felt it was well written. I liked the strong female roles as well as the different mindsets of each character. I also enjoyed how the plots include real life experiences and honest emotions! Very refreshing. The book plot is great and I admire Heather!

I don't want to lower the rating of this book because of my personal opinion on something in the book, so I'm rating it according to how good the book is in general.

I liked how the story tells more about Heather's past and how painful was for her and her mother when Jim left them and never called again.

For Heather it was very bad because she felt inferior to the other daughter because in her mind he not only left her, but now she knows he left her for another daughter they didn't even know that existed.

Heather had to go through Rebecca's things and see her life to discover what happened to her and some of these things hurt Heather so bad. Heather discovered a few things her mother was hiding from her from before Jim left them.

The reason why I didn’t fully enjoy this book was mostly because I was so angry with her father and his stupid wife that always treated Heather so bad. She was pure evil, and maybe afraid of Heather ruining what she thinks is a perfect life and no matter how regretful Heather’s father was feeling, I couldn’t feel sorry for him. He made his bad choices and he had a long time to regret and try to make up for it. Now that he needed Heather’s help is the only reason that he is seeing his wrong, so maybe I feel like: too little, too late. Must be because I feel like that to my own father that also cheated on my mom and now is choosing someone else over our family. I can’t see myself forgiving him anytime soon. So I was angry with everything that was happening to Heather being around a strange family with a father she doesn’t know anymore and she didn’t even had Barry around to help her cope with everything. Though I’m happy with her half siblings actually accept her well, I guess that kept her from feeling unwelcome. The book plot is great and I admire Heather for doing what she could to help Rebecca despite everything she was feeling while at it.

great read can easily bring up past memories of your own past!

Ok so dont read this if you have a past or recent situation that may be brought back with a vengeance once you read this book! This book is about a girl who lost everything when her father left and took a lot of blame for things she did not control. She could not have known that what she was and who she was could not have been a part of her hurt and pain from years past. She is innocent in many ways and yet no so naive to think that things could have been different even if she wanted them to be. When life trips you up and splats you onto the ground many times it is the child in us that stands up, dusts off and says ok I will be ok and I will be better for surviving this. That is exactly what this lil girl does and proves to everyone no matter how hard it is if you let it drag you all the way down it will but sometimes you have to be stronger than those around you!

Carole Jacobs is the former senior editor, nutrition editor, and founding travel editor for Shape magazine, and the travel editor for Shape's sister publication for older women, Living Fit. I am new to juicing and I just love this book! It has so many yummy recipes and it gives just enough information on the nutritional aspects of the ingredients. My favorite part is the customized recipes for just about any ailment you can think of. It's easy to read and well written. I have never liked greens before and they have many recipes to help mask the taste. There are detailed sections on vitamins and their function. This is an excellent home remedy book for all juicers. It has recipes for weight loss, asthma, detox, bloating, cancer fighting, heartburn, the list goes on. I don't feel the need to buy any other juicing books at this point.

Much more than I expected!

Just got our copy today and I have already made a dent in reading it. I wasn't sure about this whole juicing thing, but really wanted to try it after seeing Fat, Sick and nearly Dead, but he doesn't offer any information about why things are good for you and what each offers. This book goes in depth about the various fruits and veggies, what their flavors are, what goes with what, and which types are best for certain health issues. There are a lot of recipes, most of which look really good! I can't wait to dive into the various recipes!

This is a great book; it tells you all the healing properties of each fruit and vegetable, what they are used for and how to make juice with them. I found it very informative and useful for me as I'm just beginning to venture into the land of juicing. As someone who is not particularly fond of fruits and veggies, this has been a very useful resource.

All you wanted to know about the origins of agriculture

This is a thorough, well-researched and clearly argued book about the origins of agriculture. The author has collected exhaustive references about agriculture all over the world. He presents a nuanced argument for the beginnings of agriculture that includes the social dynamics for why people elected to leave their foraging way of life.

I am a professional archaeologist, but I believe that a careful non-specialist reader would find this book quite informative. I am also happy to see it is now available in paperback and as a Kindle book. I managed to get a hold of it half price because we were at a conference where sometimes you can obtain the display copies cheaper.

Even if you paid full price for it, the book is worth every penny.

About the Author
Sergio Gandolfo is Full Professor of Dentistry at the University of Turin, School of Medicine S. Luigi Gonzaga. He earned his medical degree in 1977 and completed postgraduate training in stomatology (1980) and medical oncology (1983) at the University of Turin. Currently, Professor Gandolfo is Head of the Department of Dentistry at the S. Luigi University Hospital, Orbassano, Turin, and is also Dean of the Postgraduate School in Oral Surgery and the Master in Oral Medicine and Special Needs Care at the University of Torino. From 2005 to 2008 he was Dean of the Degree Course in Oral Hygiene (University of Torino).

Professor Gandolfo is past-President and founding fellow of the Italian Society of Oral Pathology and Medicine (SIPMO), and a member of the International Academy of Oral Oncology (IAOO), the International Association of Oral Pathologist (IAOP) and the European Academy of Oral Medicine (EAOM). He currently serves on the Scientific Committee of the Association for Prevention and Care of Cancer in Piedmont.

Crispian Scully is a Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Oral Health-General Health; and is emeritus Professor at UCL. He is Co-Editor of Oral Diseases, Medicina Oral, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Investigative and Clinical Dentistry.

Crispian Scully is Past-President of the International Academy of Oral Oncology, European Association of Oral Medicine, British Society for Oral Medicine and British Society of Disability and Oral Health, he has served as Dean in Bristol and UCL; on the General Dental Council; on the Councils of the Royals colleges in Glasgow and Edinburgh; and on committees of NICE and CRUK, He has written and edited over 45 books, written over 150 book chapters and has over 1000 papers cited on MEDLINE. He has received the CBE, University of Helsinki Medal of Honour, University of Santiago de Compostela Medal, University of Granada Medal, Fellowship of UCL, and honorary degrees from the Universities of Athens, Granada, Helsinki and Pretoria. He has received the UK Dental Award for the Most Outstanding Achievements in Dentistry, the Awards of the Spanish Society for Oral Medicine and the Hellenic Society for Oral Medicine, and the International Award of the Spanish Society for Oral Surgery.

Marco Carrozzo is Professor of Oral Medicine, School of Dental Sciences and Honorary Consultant in Oral Medicine, RVI Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Marco graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Turin, Italy, and specialized in odontostomatology, becoming researcher and Consultant in Oral Medicine at the University of Turin. He is author and co-author of over 180 scientific publications including several papers on oral cancer and potentially malignant diseases and of three books and nine book chapters on oral medicine. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of Oral Oncology, Oral Diseases, International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Medicina Oral, Patolog�a Oral y Cirurg�a Bucal, Minerva Stomatologica and International Journal of Oral Science.

Expensive for what you get.

Included some very good ways to help build your credit. However, the price for the book is high compared to all that is to it. Only contains 45 pages, but does give you the wording to use for when contacting the credit bureaus, etc. Very easy to read and understand. Just don't expect a large amount of pages when you order.

Great book! Increased my credit score to a 761!

Fantastic book! Since reading The Smart Money Secret, I was able to take my credit score from the low 500s to a 761 in 6 months! JavaBeans for Dummies explains JavaBeans and how they work in a way that doesn't presume any knowledge of Java or, really, any significant knowledge of programming. Thus the book is especially well suited for someone who wants to learn how to use JavaBeans without delving into the intricacies of Java programming itself. While it superficially covers crucial topics such as introspection, event handling, and persistence, serious programmers may want further depth.

Good JavaBeans book

Hi, my name is Laurence Vanhelsuwe and I am the author of Mastering JavaBeans (Sybex, 1997). I've browsed several Beans books in the bookshops of late and the only one that I liked (apart from my own) was Emily's. Her book is very different from mine, but is much better than most of the others I've seen so far.
